Psalm 91 – Where Do You Stand?

As we read over the 91st Psalm this week, and meditate on how it applies to ourselves and our families; think about your words. What kinds of things are you saying on a daily basis? What are you saying when things get tough in your life? What do you say to your children when frustrations arise? Are you like the Shunammite woman in 2 Kings 4:17-37, or the disciples in Mark 4: 35-41?

Compare and contrast their responses to trouble. The Shunammite woman confessed “it is well” to anyone who asked, and made her petition to the Lord with the help of the prophet Elisha (Two standing in agreement on earth concerning their petition (Matthew 18:19)). She did not let up or change her confession at any point. The disciples, on the other hand, accused the LORD of not caring about them or their predicament.
